Fahrenheit 451 Pages 29 - 52

Summary: Montag is unsure about being a firemen. They went to a fire and the lady who lived there wouldn't leave and burned to death. He come home and doesn't feel well, he throws up on the floor. He hasn't seen Clarisse in 4 days and his wife says that she is pretty sure she got run over by a car and died. He is starting to get upset with his wife because she doesn't seem to care about him. He starts to question what they are doing as firemen. The fire chief then shows him a handbook that says that Benjamin Franklin was the first firemen and that they are supposed to burn burn the house down, only if it has books in it. Montag thinks that they should be putting fires out instead of starting them.

Response: I think that Montag is right about putting fires out. I don't understand why they burn books and start fires. I would probably get upset with my wife to if she didn't care about anything I did. All she does is watch tv all day. Why does the firefighter handbook say that Benjamin Franklin was the first firefighter?
